Before you start working on your bedroom though, here are some of the ideas which may go with your personality.

Bold and Beautiful

When you enter in someone’s room, the first thing that catches your attention is likely the colour scheme. If you are in your early twenties, you may have already looked for colour scheme inspiration and came back disappointed. Many home décor websites suggest on keeping the colour of bedroom uniform; with a simple, monochrome theme. However, if you’re more extroverted or an audacious person, this may not suit your style. Play with the colours and considering making a colour contrast to complement your oak bedroom furniture. If you have already planned for an oak bedside table and oak wardrobe, considering choosing a colour palette that matches the bedding and curtains.

Serene and Calm Shelter

Now this is something for the people who have a more calm and introverted nature. In contrary to the colourful theme of bedroom that work for more extroverted people, a more neutral colour scheme can be magic for you. One thing which we need to clear is that sombre is not equal to tranquillity. It doesn’t mean that you can’t do something bold with neutral colour. It’s all about creating a perfect ambiance for your bedroom. Complement this using oak bedroom furniture and accessorising with plants, lighting or candles.

After all, you want something to resemble to your personality, not someone else’s.

Movie Themed Den

So, you are someone who loves watching movies and have film posters hanging on your bedroom walls. However, this is just a simple way to express your love for cinema. You can do something more exciting to enjoy your movie time with style. You can could set a corner area with some necessary items of oak bedroom furniture. This could be decorated with posters or any other piece of art to highlight your love of film. You can also invite your friends for movie night and have them admire your collection of movies organised in your oak TV unit.

Book Lover Corner

The whole idea is not about showing off the things you have interest in but creating a space for you where you can enjoy and relax. Book reading is an addiction to some people, so why not build a space to enjoy your reading time. A space organised for your reading with an oak bookcase to organise your books and magazines and proper lighting is your way to go. Your list of oak bedroom furniture must include bookcase and coffee table for this purpose.

Now it’s up to you to decide how you want to decorate your space to creatively show off your passions.

Tips To Get Sport Pitch

The process of keeping a sports pitch maintained to a high standard is quite a challenge. There are many different steps that need to be taken throughout the course of the season. Let’s take a look at a few of the major points of maintaining a great looking pitch:

Good mowing practices

It benefits to cut the pitch throughout the season. The preferred length of the grass is determined by the weather and the season. An ideal length for the warm months is in the region of 1 or 2 inches, while the height can be left longer in the cold months. A length of 2 or 3 inches is accepted at this time.

Use the right maintenance operations

There are a variety of maintenance operations that can benefit the all-round condition of the pitch. They can include brushing, verti-draining, rolling, slit-tining and harrowing. However, it is essential that only the most appropriate maintenance operations are carried out to match the specific needs of the pitch. It is very easy to cause more harm than good if the wrong operation is completed at the wrong time.

Proper weed control

A regular application of herbicides to the pitch is very important to stop the unwanted growth of weeds. Also, it is essential to use the right type of chemical to kill off the weeds and not impact the healthy grass.

Use fertilisation

The proper fertilisation can go a long way to help improve the condition of the sports pitch. A few of the most common choices include phosphorus, potassium and nitrogen. But, it is necessary to be careful when applying a fertiliser. Applying too much is likely to have a negative impact on the condition of the pitch. It is possible to use core sampling to help in the process of determining the most appropriate fertiliser to use.

Use the right machinery

Investing in the right machinery to maintain a pitch is likely to be quite expensive, especially if it is necessary to invest in a slit-tiner or mini tractor. Also, the size of the grounds and club will have an influence on the machinery needed. However, there are a few other options for those not in a position to buy the machinery outright. One option is to hire the machinery for the specific maintenance days. Also, there is the option to hire a specialist contractor to take on full responsibility of maintaining the pitch.

All About Removing Clutter

Getting your home clean and clear is a tough thing to consider if you’re not really up to it. Many people aren’t thinking about the process of removing clutter or even going green. In fact, many just let things pile up and then one day realize that they need to get themselves into cleaning mode. If you have ever felt yourself let clutter get in the way you may need some tips to help you make progress. The following tips and tricks will help you garner more success from your green cleaning endeavors.

Make A Major Assessment

The first thing that you need to do is simple, walk around your home and make a serious assessment of the clutter that you have. You need to focus on figuring out what kind of mess you have on hand and what you want to tackle first. Don’t just say, “I want to tackle everything” as that is going to be overwhelming. Take your time, assess the issues, and start to work with just “one” area of your home that needs some TLC. If you start with one area, then you can start to make progress into the others but don’t try to do it all at once.

Create Separate Piles

There should be separate piles for things that you want to keep, throw away, and give away. You should start working towards downsizing some of your things. Think about what you really use, and what you honestly don’t. You have to be brutally honest with yourself to ensure that you are able to remove clutter and with a focus on giving things away, recycling, or throwing them away, you’ll be able to go green and help others in the same vein. Do not just throw everything away, and don’t just keep everything, your goal is to downsize, as that will help with removing clutter and reduce future messes.

Start At The Top

For those that have a lot of shelves with things stored up high start there. Don’t work your way from the bottom up but instead work your way from the top down. This will ensure that you’re able to get to “dusty” areas that you may not look into a great deal. This will help you get the upper hand in terms of cleaning and reduce clutter overall.

Vacuum More Often

One last tip that you’ll want to adhere to is to vacuum and so often. This will help you not only clear paths of clutter, it will put cleaning at the forefront of your mind, keep dust to a minimum, and ensure less work when you eventually undertake larger cleaning projects.

Guide To Cleaning Your Handbags

Just like jewelries, handbags are women’s best friends – it is just impossible to live without it! Whether you are just grocery shopping or having a business meeting, it just makes our lives simpler and easier.

However, along with the desire to collect a variety of handbags for different occasions is the demand to handle all of them with care. Good thing, handbags are designed to last for many years. Nevertheless, it is still imperative for every woman out there to know how to do it. Here are some tips from experts:

Throw away trash every so often

In order to maintain the looks and quality of your handbag, the first step would be to throw away unnecessary things that have been in your bag for quite some time already.

Throwing them away would make your handbags clean from the inside out and make organizing easier as well. It gives more room for your other important stuffs. Some of the things you need to throw regularly are expired tickets and coupons, wrappers, snacks, and piece of paper no longer use.

Use a damp soft white cloth

A lot of experts would agree to this, that by removing dirt or dust off of your handbag, you simple need to wipe it with a damp soft white cloth. It is the kind of maintenance that’s easy for anyone to do.

You don’t need to use expensive tools and products or hire an expert to do this for you – which would cost a lot of money by the way – because you can do it on your own. You just have to make sure to use the damp cloth properly.

What’s in the care label?

To make things a lot easier for you, check the care label first and follow the instructions given. This would ensure that proper maintenance will be delivered regularly.

Always remember that there are different ways to clean handbags depending on the materials they are made of. For example, real leather has specific cleaning instructions that are different from artificial leather.

Depending on the type of handbag you possess, you need to know in the care label the specific instructions for cleaning them. Following the instructions will help you save the quality of your handbag so that it can remain to be of good use for a long time.

Don’t lay them on the floor

Although most handbags are durable, they can easily wear and tear, especially when you don’t place them properly. In your closet, make sure to have a shelf for your handbags where you can line all of them upright. To keep them upright, stuff a tissue or any soft material inside.

Always treat your handbags like your babies. Prepare a good storage place for them and structure them in a way that’s clean and neat. Proper storage results to proper maintenance.

Know what right products to use

Depending on the kind of bag you have (genuine leather or vegan), the cleaners and polishing materials to use for removing scuffs and for keeping them shiny can vary. Make sure to consult a professional shoe maker or visit a handbag department first.

If you don’t know what products to use or if you don’t know how to use them, educate yourself first. Don’t dive into the situation right away without full knowledge on what to do. For sure, you can find a lot of different products available for handbag cleaning, but not all of them may be right for your handbag. To keep the products from destroying the quality of your handbag, make sure that their ingredients are safe to use.

Spray only

When using cleaning products, remember to not apply them directly on your bags. Instead, spray it on a microfiber cloth first and then wipe. It is very easy to do. If it is your first time to do it, read the instructions and watch some demos.

Now that you know how to care for your handbags, it’ll now be easier for you to carry them around wherever you go. No longer will you have to worry about stains and dirt because now you are confident on how to remove them. Always remember to protect your wonderful investment.

Things You Should Know Before Cleaning Your Oven

No matter if you use the services of a professional cleaning company or do the oven cleaning on your own, you must have gone down the aisle with cleaning detergents and got spoilt for choice which one to pick. The wide variety of products gives you the chance to try different cleaning solutions until you find the one that best suits your needs.

However, apart from detergents, you also need a bunch of oven cleaning tools. Without them, you will not have an easy time cleaning at all. Here is a list of said items:

Gloves – The powerful cleaning detergents are capable of lifting off thick layers of grime, which means they are not completely harmless. Therefore, you should avoid direct contact between the detergent and your skin, or you risk getting skin irritations. Always put gloves on before you start the oven cleaning procedure.

Soft brush – Make sure you have a soft brush near at hand so that you can gently scrub the problematic areas without scratching the surface. If you don’t have such a brush, an old toothbrush will do an excellent job.

Paper towels – It does not matter if you use eco-friendly detergents such as a baking soda paste or you prefer the powerful commercial ones, you will have to wipe the oven interior and exterior. Having paper towels at home is the best way to bring back the shiny condition of your appliance.

Microfiber cloths – microfiber clothes will help you remove burnt-on residue, but don’t forget to wash them regularly. Having your rags clean and well-sanitised guarantees the excellent result.

Blunt knife – If you have been postponing oven cleaning for ages, you will most probably have to deal with a thick layer of grime or burnt-on food leftovers. To restore the showroom condition of the oven, you have to apply a cleaning detergent. Let it take effect for 15 minutes and then carefully scrape the loosen dirt and food particles with a blunt knife or a spatula.

A container for racks – Cleaning the racks is probably the most exhausting part of the entire oven cleaning process. However, if you take care of the racks at the very beginning of the procedure, it will be a lot easier to make them shiny. Before you apply some detergent to the interior, take out the racks and submerge them into hot water where you have dissolved some dishwashing liquid. The combination of hot water and dishwashing liquid will loosen the grease, so you will be able to remove it with a sponge and wipe the racks with paper towels.

As you can see, there is a bit more to oven cleaning than the mere application of a product. You have to think about what items and solutions you need for the job and acquire them all. Only then can you hope to get the decent result you are after.

Tips To Clean Walls and Wallpaper

Walls accumulate a lot more dust than you might realize, regardless of the finish. To achieve a clean wall, first, remove all the pictures and wall décor. Second, move furniture away from the walls so you can have easy access. Lastly, when you actually start cleaning, dust your walls from the baseboard upwards to the ceiling using the wall brush of your vacuum cleaner or a soft hair wall brush. Pay special attention to corners, baseboards, and moldings because those places can gather the most dust and cobwebs.

Wipe off Stains Quickly

To maintain a clean wall, food stains should be wiped off as soon as possible to remove any solid particles. If there are grease spot remaining, use cleaning fluid with an absorbent mixture like Fuller’s earth clay or tailor’s (French) chalk. For ink splatters, carefully blot up the stain as soon as possible using a moist towelette. The next step is to apply Fuller’s earth or tailor’s chalk as you would a grease stain. If the ink stain remains, you can try using ink erasers as another option.

Wood-Paneled Walls

Wood-paneled walls, rarely need more than dusting. However, if they begin to look dehydrated and grimy, you can clean them with a soft cloth along with liquid wax. Rub the panels continuously with a clean soft cloth until you can touch the wall without leaving fingerprints. If your wood-paneled walls are painted with glossy or enamel paint, avoid using cleaning these types of walls with soap. Using soap on enameled surfaces usually leaves a distinctive film.

Wallpaper

Day-to-day care for wallpaper includes immediate removal of marks or stains. Light smudges and pencil marks can be removed by using art gum. Crayon marks can be removed with a soft sponge and cleaning fluid, though this should be tested first on a small patch of wallpaper to make sure the cleaning fluid won’t ruin the wallpaper. Warm soapy water can be used if the paper is washable.

Washable Wallpaper

Even if the wallpaper is labeled as washable, you should still test it before you start to work on it. Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge and carefully test the paper by rubbing it with little water using a light touch. If the colors do not run and the area dries adequately, you can go ahead and wash your wallpaper. Washable wallpapers can be cleaned using warm water made with mild white soap or a mild detergent. Continue as mentioned before, being careful to not apply too much pressure while rubbing. Remember to take great care when washing wallpapers since using too much water will soak the wallpaper, weakening the glue.

Delicate Wallpaper

To clean thin, delicate wallpaper use warm water with no detergents or soap. Always work your way from the bottom upward. This is important since any water that dribbles down a soiled wall makes a streak that is not easy to remove. Also, change the water when it becomes dirty so that you’re not dipping and wiping your wallpaper with dirty water.

Lacquered Wallpaper

Lacquered wallpapers can easily be washed with warm soapy water or detergents. Wallpapers coated with wall wax can be cleaned simply by using a damp cloth. Special cleaners are essential for fabric-coated walls.

Low Cost Home Improvement

Have you been thinking about remodeling your home? Keep in mind that you can often achieve your goal without a giant expense. Small improvements introduced in almost every room, including the exterior of the house can make all the difference.

Here are a few tips to get you started:

Keep it clean and keep it simple!

A clean and neat house is appealing and eye-catching. You can start improving the appearance of your house simply by cleaning out the debris. Try making your garden look like an ideal place with some weeding and cleaning out the flower beds. Paint the front door to give your home a more welcoming feeling.

De-cluttering is also a part of cleaning, so get rid of things you don’t need to make room for new ones. The first glance is usually enough for a selective buyer to quickly estimate a house.

Does the exterior of your home need repainting? Is there a walkway that you can highlight by introducing some flowers? Remember to keep it simple. Focus on making things neat and tidy.

Two hot spots of every home:

The two most closely inspected rooms of a house are the kitchen and the master bathroom. If you are looking to focus on two hot spots, these are the interior rooms where the most value can be added during a sale, so make them look their best to increase your return on investment.

Is your kitchen may be in need of an upgrade? A well updated kitchen will dramatically increase the value of your home, so focus on spicing up this room to grab buyer attention. Renovating your kitchen using modern décor is going to instantly improve the value of your home. Many times a buyer will compromise on other rooms and will buy a home just because its kitchen is well-maintained and inviting.

The same holds true for bathrooms, especially the master bathroom. You will charm open house-goers with modern upgrades like dual vanities and soaking tubs in your master bath. Replace the faucets and clean up the bathroom counter. We would again emphasize on simplicity because for easy maintenance.

What to Invest in?

So, you’re done de-cluttering, cleaning and upgrading. What’s next? Well, if you are willing to make a good upgrade investment, it is recommended to divide your renovation plan into four parts to bring impressive improvements to your home. Here are the four areas you may want to seriously consider upgrading:

Lighting: If you are not satisfied with the lighting system in your house, replace it.

This would entail buying lighting fixtures and other equipment for each room to make it look consistent and attractive.

Plumbing: Many old homes have rusty pipes and some leakage in the plumbing that needs attention. Your home will not sell fast and at a price you have in mind if you haven’t already upgraded the plumbing system.

Flooring: Most people nowadays look for hardwood floors or alternatives that are easy to manage and provide health benefits instead of carpeting. Tiled floors are also fairly acceptable. If you think this improvement would bring you higher profits, make the investment without delay.

HVAC Replacement: Today new energy-efficient HVAC systems are being introduced to the market that incur a one-time cost and help you save huge amounts of money on utility bills. You can add a unique selling feature to your house by making this replacement part of your home improvement strategy.

What’s really worth repairing?

Remember that not all things are worth repairing; some need to be thrown out and others need to be replaced. This is a good principle to follow when staging a home.

Inspect every aspect of your home and then come up with a plan within your budget to bring a fresh crisp look to your home. You may want to replace outdated appliances in the kitchen with new modern models. Repairing old appliances is not an option. If your budget doesn’t allow an appliance upgrade, simply give the ones you use a color-boost to improve their appearance.

If you already have wooden floors installed at home, look for scratches and be prepared for some refinishing. Wooden floors are highly desirable, even if they are old and worn. Give them a little lift-up to make them more attractive and appealing.

Nowadays energy-efficiency has found its way into many of our systems including the windows. Home buyers look for the latest windows and other systems that are designed as energy-efficient since they provide a number of economical, health and environmental benefits. Replace your old windows for new energy-efficient windows to improve the value of your home.

If your bathroom floors are tiled, look for any flaws or cracks especially if the tiles are white or light-colored. These types of flaws are hard to conceal even if you arrange everything else very neatly. So, before investing in other bathroom accessories replace a cracked floor tile.

Tips To Protect Your Home From Winter

The winter season is upon us. Just as we change our lifestyles and routines to fit with the seasons, we must also adapt our homes to the changes. While we’re getting ready to cozy up indoors and bring out the heavy-duty winter woollies, we need to make sure our home is ready to bear the coming onslaught of snow, dirt, slush, and salt.

The winter season brings with it challenges that aren’t purely seasonal in nature; the holiday season comes with a heavy increase in foot traffic around the house as people spend a lot of time indoors. This double effect can combine to do some real damage to your beautiful hardwood floors if you aren’t prepared. Let’s take a quick look at how the changing season can harm your flooring and how you can prevent this from happening.

Common Winter Elemental Damages

Gap formation: The air that your air conditioner systems will be circulating throughout your home in the winter season is much drier than the type of air that circulates during the summer months. The effect this has on wood is that it causes it to slightly lose its moisture content, leading to the creation of small gaps where planks meet. You shouldn’t worry too much about this, as it’s to be expected. Once temperatures warm up, they will absorb a bit of moisture and return to normal.

Scratches and scrapes: Mud, salt, dead leaves, dirt, and snow can all combine to create unsightly scratches and scrapes on your floors once they are unintentionally brought into the house on the bottoms of boots and shoes.

Rot: If left to lie untouched for long enough, some of these winter elements can make their way into your flooring, causing the wood to rot. This is to be avoided at all costs, as serious cases might make it necessary to seek professional services to repair.
What Can I Do to Avoid Them?

Maintain temperatures: What leads to the creation of gaps in your flooring is the changing temperature levels and humidity. A good way to counteract this effect is to maintain your thermostat settings at a constant even temperature, avoiding turning your heat up and down.

Clean up: Regularly sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming your floors prevents the build-up of sludge and leftover snow that might eventually lead to rot.

Take the shoes off: Simply taking off shoes and boots before coming indoors will go a long way in avoiding most of the winter-borne floor difficulties. Before they come indoors, have your family and friends take note!

Cover up: Rugs, carpets, and floor-mats are a great way to protect your floors, especially in high-traffic areas which experience the most stress. Unwanted elements simply won’t have the chance to get at your floors.

Know what you’re dealing with: Gaining a good understanding of exactly what type of floor you’re trying to protect will make your job a whole lot easier. Having information about your hardwood floor areas such as how old they are, how much money you have invested in them over time, etc. will help you determine just how much time, effort, and money would be reasonably used up in protecting them.

Tips To Design Quite Ambiance

Living in an area with noise issues is one of the biggest problems that have to be eliminated as quickly as possible. Landscaping is one such solution to overcome this noisy issue where you let your landscape designer know everything in advance about the sound issues you’re facing and what sort of landscaping you’re thinking of getting at your place. Make things clear so as to make everything less bothersome for you and your designer. Doing all this on your own is not an easy task rather you have to hire professional landscape designers who are well-trained in acoustical control concept.

Commonly there are four methods that can be used for sound attenuation apart from the basic environmental barriers. Let us have a look at these methods:

1. Sound absorption:

The effective absorption of sound waves is possible with the use of plants and bushes. They are one of the best ways to entrap or absorb sound vibrations. Especially for the large-scale applications, this method is the common one and is used widely. All parts of the plants including leaves, branches, twigs and woods are able to absorb sound waves and restrict them to enter your property. The best sound absorption is possible with the use of plant species that have many branches, thick and fleshy leaves and the thin petioles. The maximum advantage of such noise barriers can be taken during the months when windows are kept open and you’re supposed to spend quality time outdoors. Apart from all these, there are large shrubby trees that can also be used effectively at scattering sound waves.

2. Sound deflection and reflection

This is a method wherein the noise sometimes bounces away from the recipient or sometimes reflects back to the source. The difference is based upon the rigidity and density of the barrier, but, you can ask your designer to create attractive and effective partitions that may serve as a fence and also works as an effective sound barrier. The masonry walls are considered to be efficient sound barriers and when the sound waves strikes5-6 foot masonry walls; it does not vibrate and reflects the sound waves back to the source. While on the other side, when the sound waves will strike a flexible panel it will vibrate, transforming the sound waves into other forms of energy, deflecting them off in the other directions.

3. Sound refraction

This is the effect that occurs when the unwanted sound is dissipated, dispersed or diffused by striking through the rough surface on any plain. And the outdoor surfaces coated in plants can also have the similar effect. On the plain ground, the most powerful tool with the refraction ability is the lawn. Make sure your designer is well aware of the tactics to utilize the surface coverings whenever possible to keep the unwanted sounds bouncing around your courtyard and restricting them to enter your property, making it a peaceful place to live in.

4. White noise

This method is quite different from all the three above and is widely used in the recent days. This is something that is creatively designed for the human beings. This barrier is designed to create a sound that human loves listening to as a mask for the undesirable noise. Mostly for white noise fountains with loud splashes are used. During the rush hours, select the water feature that makes a lot of noise, whereas later in the evening the city is quieter and you can dial the water noise down to the subtle level. Opt for a landscape where absorption, deflection or refraction solutions are in place and can help a smaller fountain to become far more effective than you even think of.
